What? The latest jargon? Perhaps, but the potential for IT to support and enhance field-based training is something that the EL CETL became very interested in. Technology can be used in a variety of ways to improve both the effectiveness and efficiency of fieldwork. The Experiential Learning CETL compiled an extensive review of the literature in this area and organised a national conference in May 2006 on “Supporting Fieldwork using Information Technology”. The literature review and a report of the conference can be found on the GEES website. The use of IT in this context fell into three categories; pre fieldwork, during fieldwork and post fieldwork.
