Between 2005 and 2010, the EL CETL has provided financial support, and the time and expertise of its development staff, to enhance field courses and develop new ones.
Examples of the EL CETL’s activities in fieldwork have included:-
- Funding reconnaissance of field locations;
- Generating data and collecting samples and specimen;
- Developing an extensive database on the environment of the Tamar valley;
- Providing equipment and training to enable use of mobile devices, such as PDAs,
in fieldwork;- Developing web-based and other e-resources to help students both prepare for,
and reflect on, fieldwork;- Examining the student experience of field courses;
- Providing digests of research on the effects of fieldwork;
- Holding workshops and events to identify and share good practice.
