Work-based learning can prove as valuable for University staff as it does for students. It provides opportunities to update and refresh knowledge, to gain inspiration for new teaching materials, to build business and community links, and to further fruitful personal development.
Throughout it's duration, the EL CETL offered funding for staff to undertake short placements with an external organisation. These placements were required to benefit teaching and learning but the exact nature or mode of engagement were deemed flexible.
Examples include:-
- working alongside someone in industry or other relevant organisation;
- working with an organisation on an analysis of technical needs;
- working with an organisation to address a previously identified need;
- undertaking a small scale project with a not for profit or community organisation;
- undertaking a systematic review of a previous/current KTP experience resulting in direct learning outcomes.
